Phillip Churn, Commander, 3rd Brigade, 104th Division (Leader
Training), and a SARCA member,
gave an overview briefing of the 104th Division's ROTC mission and
ongoing initiatives to increase the number of lieutenants in the

COL Scott Paradis, Chief, Army Reserve Communications and LTC Dale
Fair, Strategic Initiatives Division, OCAR, provided an update
on initiatives being undertaken in the USAR, including the Employer
Partnership Program.

Executive Director of MCEC (right) for their support of

Patricia Shinseki, Board Member,
Military Child Education Coalition, gave a
presentation on the various programs of the MCEC, which are designed
to ensure quality educational experiences for all military children.
Mrs. Shinseki is
also the wife of retired Army Chief of Staff and current
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki.

"Hondo" Campbell, CG, US Army Forces Command, gave his
thoughts on the "strategic inflection points" (changes in conditions
or the landscape that demands an institution undertake change or
risk becoming irrelevant), which have affected the Army over the past

Stultz, Chief, Army Reserve and CG, US Army
Reserve Command and SARCA Life Member, discussed a variety of issues
facing the Army Reserve. There were no slides from
this session, as LTG Stultz focused on answering questions
and discussing issues with SARCA members.

For the second year, BG John
Hanley has led SARCA members running in the Army Ten-Miler, the
largest 10 mile race in the United States and the second largest in
the world. This year SARCA fielded two teams. The SARCA
Blue Team won third place in the Open Masters Mixed Category.
